Save your business money by going green
This week (10 - 16 November) is Planet Ark’s National Recycling week, an annual campaign encouraging Australian householders, businesses and schools to ‘Recycle Right’, helping save water, conserve resources and combat climate change.
National Recycling Week is a great opportunity to review and promote your existing recycling programs or to kick off new programs. It's also a great opportunity to look at ways of generally greening your workplace.
In a first for the northern Sunshine Coast area, 240 litre recycling bins are now available free of charge with a fortnightly pickup. Alternately a 1.1m recycling bin is available for $998 per annum (10% discount with prompt payment) for a weekly pick up. Contact Council’s Tewantin customer service centre on 5449 5200.
There are some great examples of businesses on the Sunshine Coast who have worked tirelessly to improve their bottom line by recycling. Tewantin RSL has reduced its waste by a staggering 32% (more than 211 cubic metres) and reduced water consumption by 25% equating to a combined saving of $4845 per year, as well as increasing recycling by 38%.
For more information on what your business can do to improve your bottom line through conserving water and energy and reducing waste, visit the EPA website or Planet Ark's website.

World class technology here on the Sunshine Coast

On October 31, Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, the Hon. Senator Stephen Conroy launched the Noosa Clever Networks project, the first of the federally funded Clever Networks projects to be completed, and officially opened the Cooroy Data Centre.
The Noosa Clever Networks project includes a ‘state of the art’ data storage centre providing high-capacity data backup support to the Sunshine Coast; an optic fibre link connecting the new (planned) library at Cooroy and the (planned) Carpenters Lane and Nandroya developments, and seven wireless base stations providing multi-megabit connectivity in the north of the Sunshine Coast.
The Noosa Clever Networks project is part of Connecting the Coast, Council’s innovative telecommunications project funded by the Federal Government under the Clever Networks Program and supported by project partners Allegro Networks and Mach Technology.
