Smart technology company chooses the Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast Council welcomes Tracknology's arrival to their new Sunshine Coast home at the Innovation Centre.

Economic Development and Council Entrepreneurship portfolio chair Councillor Lew Brennan said companies like Tracknology who are doing business globally and can be based anywhere in the world are seeing the Sunshine Coast as a key destination that offers many advantages.

Council recently launched 'Natural Advantages' initiative which markets the Sunshine Coast as a business destination, not just a premier holiday destination.

Director of Sales and Products for Tracknology, Steve Walsh said the decision to move to the coast was motivated by a combination of personal and professional reasons.

Tracknology is an Australian developer of comprehensive work order and work flow management solutions that transform mobile devices into wireless platforms. They have secured contracts for the RMA Process, Customer Service Support and Technical Support from Sonim, said to be manufacturers of the world’s toughest phone. This contract win is an important one for the the Sunshine Coast, validating that the coast is a viable region for technology based businesses and international brands to establish their operations in Queensland.

Not only are companies like Tracknology choosing the Sunshine Coast as a preferred business destination but they are showcasing the region to those they do business with on a global scale, who may return either as visitors or investors themselves.

Creating a sense of place at the Junction

The Noosa Junction has taken another step closer to an exciting and vibrant new look with the appointment of a locally based consultant to undertake the development of a Place Making Master Plan for Noosa’s well-loved shopping strip.

The appointment of Place Design Group marks the first stage in the project to develop a plan which will rejuvenate the Junction, making it an easier and more attractive place to visit and do business.

The Noosa Junction Place Making Master Plan will focus on town planning, urban design, traffic and landscaping - building on previous economic strategy work already completed in this area.

Council is now talking to the community, the business owners and all stakeholders, to get their thoughts on what the Master Plan should look like.

Noosa Junction, with its lush subtropical greenery, has always had that relaxed, friendly pace and this Place Making Master Plan aims to integrate that feel into the streetscape plans along with good visual and traffic design, economic and ecological outcomes.

Consultation has already started with targeted stakeholders. The event on Saturday 13 March at Arcadia Walk will be the local community’s chance to have a say. The Draft Master Plan will then be on display for feedback in late April – another chance to make sure you have a say – before going to council for final adoption in June.

For Place Making Master Plan announcements and up-dates visit council’s website or contact Jamie Franklin via Council’s call centre 5475 8501.
