Land transfer to help Botanic Gardens blossom
|
The formal transfer of the land that is home to Noosa Botanic Gardens is finally underway. After nine years with Seqwater, ownership of the land is reverting back to Noosa Council. Agreements are in place, and the formal process should be completed by Christmas.
“Being located right next to Lake Macdonald, the land was transferred into Seqwater’s ownership as a result of a restructure of Queensland’s water supply in 2008,” Mayor Tony Wellington explained.
“Council has continued to maintain the Gardens, with considerable help from the Friends of Noosa Botanic Gardens and volunteers. However, this new land deal will remove uncertainty and allow both Council and the community to plan the future of this much-loved facility." Read more.

Kids become reading stars
|
Read early and read often, is the message delivered by the Noosa Library Service initiative, Reading Stars.
Parents who sign their infants and toddlers up for a personal library card, and borrow at least 10 books each visit from Cooroy, Noosaville or Mobile libraries, will be winners in many ways.
To become a Reading Star, borrow regularly and read, talk, sing and play with babies and toddlers every day. Read more.

Happy, and we know it
|
If you’re happy and you know it, you really ought to show it, and Noosa residents have done just that by scoring highly on the Regional Wellbeing Survey facilitated by the University of Canberra.
The survey results show that Noosa is generally happier than other regional areas of Queensland and Australia.
“This is a great result," says Noosa Mayor Tony Wellington. Read more.

Defibrillators for parks
|
Three Noosa Council holiday parks are set to gain life-saving defibrillators.
Council has ordered automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for Noosa North Shore Campground, Noosa River Holiday Park and Boreen Point Campground.
Staff will be trained to use the devices, worth almost $2000 each, to help save a life in the event of an emergency.
The Apollonian Social Club has donated half the cost of the Boreen Point Campground defibrillator. Read more.
