New koala trees for Girraween Nature Refuge |

Council will plant 450 new koala food trees in the Girraween Nature Refuge, funded through cash offsets paid by the Settler’s Cove developer. The new trees will replace 48 mature trees cleared to make way for the Settler’s Cove development. Read more. |

Foreshore awash with art for Floating Land launch |

The Tewantin foreshore will host three art installations and a soundscape as part of the official launch of Floating Land 2015: Reflect and Re-Imagine. These installations, on the foreshore near Noosa Regional Gallery, and other Floating Land artworks to be revealed during the next four weeks, invite observers to pause and reflect on our place in the environment. Detours in place as $2M Cooroy drainage project begins |

Traffic and pedestrian detours are in place around Cooroy’s Garnet Street as work begins on a $2 million flood mitigation project. The Greenwood Grove developer is upgrading Garnet Street’s Six Mile Creek crossing to improve the road’s flood immunity and mitigate flooding for residents. Read more. |

Community encouraged to support SES |

Local Disaster Coordinator Martin Drydale is urging residents to join their local State Emergency Service (SES) branch. Mr Drydale said SES volunteers provided a vital service to the community during times of disaster and the local branch needed more volunteers to help it maintain the level of service residents relied on.
