Noosaville Library set for major revamp

Noosaville Library is set for a facelift thanks to an $805,000 grant from the State Government.
Library and Galleries Manager Kerri Contini welcomed the funding, which will be put towards the $1.7 million project.
The expansion and refurbishment project will retain the iconic architectural design but be updated to include a range of new features. Read more.

Jana to carry the Baton
|
Swimming champion Jana Clancy is among the local residents who will take part in the 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay.
Ms Clancy will join more than 30 locals who will carry the Baton as it makes its way through Noosa in March next year.
Hundreds of people will get the opportunity to engage with the Baton, when it arrives in Noosa on Monday, 26 March, as part of the 100-day countdown to the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. Read more.

Water stations in pipeline

Noosa’s new filtered water bottle filling stations have proven so popular Council has rolled out more... and there are still more to come.
The push-button stations, which support Council’s Towards Zero Waste initiative and the community’s Plastic Free Noosa campaign, are now in four locations.
There are two at Noosa Heads – one at First Point and at the Hastings Street end of Park Road – plus two along Gympie Terrace at Noosaville. Read more.

Gardens back with Council
|
The transfer of Noosa Botanic Gardens to Council will put the popular attraction back in local hands.
The ceremony to celebrate the handover was attended by representatives from Seqwater and Council, plus members of the Friends of Noosa Botanic Gardens.
Mayor Tony Wellington said the change of land ownership gave Council the necessary go-ahead to develop a new masterplan for the site. Read more.

New regional sports plan
|
Noosa Council is leading the development of a Regional Difficult to Locate Sports Facilities Plan for the Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Gympie Council areas.
The Plan will focus on aviation sports, such as hang gliding, paragliding and model aeroplane flying, as well as shooting, motorcycle sports such as motocross, plus competitive powered water sports.
Consultants have started surveying sports clubs to gather information about their needs. Read more.
