Tewantin Bypass project groundwork starts
|
Work on the first stage of the Tewantin Bypass has started.
It comes as the final design for the new roundabout at the Cooroy-Noosa Road and Beckmans Road intersection progresses.
Mayor Clare Stewart said the alignment of the new intersection had been confirmed, which meant vegetation clearing and relocation of energy and water infrastructure could begin.
“We have engaged fauna and flora specialists to give the project team advice about the best way to manage this process to minimise the environmental impacts.
“Plants and shrubs will also be planted to offset any vegetation that needs to be removed as part of the project.
“Once the area is clear, Energex and Unitywater can relocate services. Getting this work completed early cuts down the time it will take to complete the major intersection upgrade once design is complete.” Read more.

Sound review from QTC
|
Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) has confirmed Council’s strong financial management, with a recent review delivering a sound credit rating.
The QTC said the sound rating with a neutral outlook is underpinned by Noosa’s historical financial performance, relatively low debt levels and strong cash position. The rating was consistent with the previous credit review undertaken by the QTC in 2019. “It’s been a very challenging 12 months and likely to be another tough few years, but this rating is testament to the fiscal response from the entire management team,” Mayor Clare Stewart said. Still time to comment
|
Council’s biennial Community Satisfaction survey is on again and in addition to the phone survey, all residents can have a say by taking an online survey.
“We really want to hear from as many people as possible and having it available online is a real bonus,” Mayor Clare Stewart said.
The survey asks about the satisfaction with and the importance of 41 specific Council services and facilities, with the results being an important guide for Council decision-making. The survey closes May 24. Visit the website.

Consultation extended
|
Residents now have until May 28 to provide feedback on a draft local law which aims to better manage short-stay letting and home-hosted accommodation in Noosa Shire.
Mayor Clare Stewart said it was important all residents had adequate time to put forward their views, which is why the deadline was extended from May 14 to May 28.
Cr Stewart said Council was forced to introduce a local law because the Queensland Government continued to ignore calls for a state-wide framework, unlike other Australian states. Visit YourSay Noosa.
