Work set to start on new Community House
|
Construction work on the new Peregian Beach Community House – stage three of the Rufous Street Precinct – is set to start after Council approved a multi-million dollar construction tender yesterday.
Kane Constructions (Qld) Pty Ltd has secured the contract to build the new Community House and landscaping.
“A vast greenspace around the community house will provide 4000m2 of sculptured gardens, a playground, winding footpaths and grassed areas where children can play and adults can enjoy,” Council’s Community Services Director Kerri Contini said.
Once the new Community House is operating, the existing Community House will be closed and refurbished into an extension of the Peregian Digital Hub.
The Federal Government, through the Building Better Regions fund, and the State Government, through its Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program, both helped fund the project. Read more.

Have a say on draft plan
|
The call has gone out for feedback on our draft plan for managing the impact of rising sea levels and other coastal hazards associated with climate change.
Developed with input from scientific experts and the Noosa community, the Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan (CHAP) will guide Council’s response to coastal erosion in Teewah, Noosa Heads, and along the eastern beaches.
It will also guide how inundation risks are managed in areas beside the lower reaches of Noosa River. Read more.

Seed Library set to grow
|
Our libraries have launched a Seed Library where members can take some seeds, grow and enjoy the produce, and then harvest mature seeds and return them to the library for others to use.
As members donate seeds back to the seed library it will build resilient local seed stocks and preserve them for future generations.
Seeds are available at all library locations. It’s a partnership with Permaculture Noosa and the Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens. Find out more.
