Oyster study findings support reef restoration trial

Council has welcomed the results of The Nature Conservancy’s study into Noosa River oyster species.

The conservation group’s findings could pave the way for an oyster reef restoration project to enhance biodiversity in the estuary. Read more.

Tenders awarded as Council ramps up roadwork

More than $4.6 million worth of construction work on Council’s Dr Pages Road upgrade will commence in the next few weeks after Council awarded the tender to Shadforths Pty Ltd.

It’s one of more than 40 roadwork projects given a green light, with Council also awarding tenders for its $6.1 million shire-wide road reseal and rehabilitation program. Read more.

Top marks for Noosa River, but still more work to be done

Council has welcomed Noosa River’s result in this year’s Healthy Waterways Report Card.

Noosa River received an A- score for its combined estuarine and freshwater health – making it South East Queensland’s healthiest river. Read more.

Flying fox management report open for public comment

There is still time to have a say on a flying fox management report commissioned by Council. The report, along with the results of the public consultation, will form the basis of Council’s flying fox management actions. 

The report is open for public consultation until 4 November, on Council’s Your Say Noosa website. Read more.

Join the conversation on ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Noosa Council is calling on the community to help shape a new carbon reduction and energy efficiency plan for the shire.

The plan aims to drive cultural change and map out ways to reduce the Shire’s greenhouse gas emissions. Read more.

New exhibition takes a local look at war

Noosa Library Service reveals Noosa’s wartime experience in a new exhibition to open next month.

The exhibition will feature information and photographs as well as treasured memorabilia from local residents’ private collections and the Noosa Museum to create a snapshot of war-time Noosa. Read more.

School activity books spread disaster-ready message

Noosa Council and Red Cross have teamed up to ensure local school children are better prepared if disaster strikes.

The two organisations have been distributing Get Ready activity books to year 3 students at schools across Noosa Shire. The books teach children how they and their families can prepare for the types of disasters Noosa may experience. Read more.
