$4.7 million for hinterland missing link in 'legacy' budget

Mayor Noel Playford has presented a draft Noosa budget focused on maintaining the shire’s infrastructure and delivering a $4.7 million "missing link" for the hinterland road network.

The draft was based on no increase in the general rate, but the preliminary budget meeting adopted a 1.3% increase. Read more.

Green light for electric bus trial

In a Queesland first, electric buses will hit Noosa’s streets towards the end of 2015 as part of a six-month trial given the green light by Noosa Council and TransLink.

During the trial, up to three, 10-metre, 29-seater Optare electric buses will replace the conventional diesel 12.5m buses on Noosa’s busy 627 route between Tewantin and Sunshine Beach. Read more.

Positive financial outlook for Noosa Council

A Queensland Treasury Corporation credit review has found Noosa Council’s financial health to be 'sound' and its future financial outlook 'positive'.

Noosa Council CEO Brett de Chastel has welcomed the result as a strong endorsement of Council’s prudent financial management. Read more.

New chapter for Cooroy Library café

Council has appointed United Synergies to run the Cooroy Library café service from July in an arrangement set to deliver workplace training opportunities for local young people.

United Synergies will recruit young people facing barriers to employment and equip them with hospitality skills through on-the-job training. Read more.

Past in focus at Floating Land

Now in its 8th iteration Floating Land, an international event celebrating art and the environment, will this year have a theme of Reflect & Re-imagine.

In 2015 Floating Land will celebrate artworks, artists and locations involved in previous Floating Land events. Read more.

Go-ahead for Cooroy RV stop

Noosa Council will trial an RV stop near the heart of Cooroy in a decision it hopes will encourage the growing RV market to stop in and explore Noosa’s country charms.

The Mary River Road facility will accommodate up to 40 Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and provide the opportunity to grow the local economy. Read more.
