NSW Fair Trading has put real estate agents on notice, following a blitz of property auctions.

Five teams of NSW Fair Trading investigators monitored 20 property auctions across Sydney’s Inner West, to ensure that real estate agents were complying with the fair trading requirements set under the Property Stock and Business Agents Act 2002.

The Swimming Pools Amendment Act 2012 was passed by both houses of the NSW Parliament on 23 October 2012.

This Act makes a number of significant changes to the Swimming Pool Act 1992 with consequential amendments to the Conveyancing (Sale of land) Regulation 2010 and the Residential Tenancies Regulation 2010.

Major global vertical database search engine, Odusee, has announced a relationship with the Estate Agents Co-operative and its property portal, realestateworld.com.au. 

The relationship will further enhance the user experience of both sites and provide the portal's real estate customers an even greater exposure for their office brands and property listings.

NSW consumers are being urged to nominate their favourite local business, as part of a new I love my local business competition run by NSW Fair Trading. 

All consumers have to do to enter is tell Fair Trading, in 60 words or less, what they love about a favourite business and they could go in the draw to win one of 6 prizes worth $200 each.

The NSW government has recently unveiled plans to merge 23 separate tribunals to create a NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal that will be headed by a Supreme Court judge. The 23 organisations will be part of a network that will be divided into five specialist divisions – consumer, administrative and equal opportunity, occupational and regulatory, guardianship and victims – each of which will be headed by a deputy president.

Australia’s new Privacy Law is due to be adopted in late November after an extensive six year review.

However, there are suggestions from the Government that it may be delayed due to a need to amend certain provisions of the new proposed law.
